What do you get for the difference in price?
S7: tracking and recovery support
Our Thatcham S7 provides real-time 4G GPS tracking, theft alerts and access to the tracking dashboard. Free nationwide professional installation is included. It is a straightforward option when your insurer specifies S7.
S5: tracking with driver recognition
Our Thatcham S5 adds Automatic Driver Recognition using security tags. Movement without an authorised tag can flag potentially unauthorised use. Driver recognition does not, on its own, mean the vehicle is prevented from starting.
S5 Plus: tracking with added start protection
Our S5 Plus combines S5 tracking and driver recognition with “No Tag, No Start” immobilisation. Here, S5 Plus describes S5 tracking with added immobilisation; check the exact device and features your insurer requires.
What should a tracker quote include?
- Device and fitting: confirm whether professional installation is included or charged separately.
- Monitoring: compare the same number of months, not a monthly figure against an annual total.
- Authorisation: check whether the system uses tags, a PIN or another method.
- Extras: include any extra driver fobs and specialist package options you select.
- Vehicle compatibility: provide your make, model and year, particularly for an EV or hybrid.
Monthly payments or prepayment?
Choose to either pay monthly or prepay. On the monthly option, the first £10.99 is paid at checkout and subsequent monthly payments are set up separately after purchase. Free nationwide professional fitting is included with our standard wired S7, S5 and S5 Plus products. The separately listed S7 battery tracker is a self-fit option.
Does S5 always include immobilisation?
No. Our S5 includes driver recognition; our S5 Plus adds No Tag, No Start immobilisation.
Is monitoring included in the device price?
No. Monitoring is charged separately at £10.99/month. Twelve months at that rate costs £131.88.
